(OPEN) Don't let the Muggles get you down! - Vienna, Austria (7 to 14 August 2025)

This is an open call for applications for 5 participants (residents and citizens) from Austria between 15 and 25 years old for a fully funded Youth Exchange in Vienna, Austria from Friday 8. August (kick-off day) to Wednesday 13. August 2025 (last training day). For internal participants coming from outside of Austria, the latest arrival day is 07 August and the earliest departure day is 14 August.
A Youth Exchange is a meeting of groups of young people from different countries who gather for a short period to participate in a non-formal learning programme (a mix of workshops, exercises, debates, role-plays, simulations, outdoor activities, etc.). With the support of experienced youth workers, participants in a youth exchange can develop competences, become aware of socially relevant topics, discover new cultures, and strengthen values like solidarity, democracy, etc.
SUMMARY:
This call is for the Youth Exchange "Don't let the Muggles get you down!" that will be implemented in Vienna, Austria Friday 8. August (kick-off day) to Wednesday 13. August 2025 (last training day). For international participants coming from outside of Austria, the latest arrival day is 7 August and the earliest departure day is 14 August. This youth exchange brings together 40 motivated young people from Latvia, Greece, Austria, Croatia, Slovakia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Czechia.
🔍 What’s the focus?
This project is inspired by the cooperative and gender-inclusive sport of Quidditch, and is designed to:
Promote gender equality through innovative and playful methods
Foster mental and emotional wellbeing through movement and team-based reflection
Build leadership, communication, and intercultural teamwork skills
Explore the intersection of physical activity and social learning
🧠 What will you do?
Participate in interactive Quidditch sessions, workshops, and reflective activities
Engage in non-formal learning around mental health, teamwork, and personal development
Connect with peers from across Europe through cultural exchange and group collaboration
Be part of a community that values inclusivity, empathy, and social impact

Learning Outcomes:
Increased understanding of the interrelation between gender roles, emotional wellbeing, and participation in team sports like Quidditch.
Development of physical and emotional self-regulation techniques through active movement, inclusive play, and cooperative challenges.
Strengthened interpersonal skills including empathy, collaboration, and intercultural communication through team-based activities.
Empowerment to take personal initiative in challenging social norms and advocating for inclusive, mentally healthy communities.
Deeper appreciation for inclusive sports as tools for community-building, gender expression, and emotional connection.
Improved self-confidence, resilience, and authentic self-expression by engaging in safe, supportive group experiences.
Clearer personal goals and action steps for implementing inclusive and wellbeing-focused practices in participants' local communities.
PRACTICALITIES:
If you are between 15 and 25 years old and live in Austria and would like to participate in this youth exchange, please send an email with a brief introduction about you and your motivation for participation in this youth exchange to emotic.org@gmail.com AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and before 20 May 2025;
Once accepted, you will sign the participation agreement, and fill in the application form;
Then you prepare with the other participants from Austria,
All meals during the training are covered. The training will take place at the Jugendgästehaus Brigittenau in 20th district.
People from outside of Vienna will be refined for their transportation, and will be provided with accommodation.
